The Parker truss is actually a Pratt truss with a segmental top chord. Like the Pratt, the Parker places compression on its verticals and tension on its diagonals. The principal differences between the two are the more graceful appearance of the Parker and the greater difficulty in making the Parker, because of all the angled connections at the upper panel points. - NRHP
