Marriage of Virginia Graham Fair and William K Vanderbilt

26 March 1899

On the last Sunday in March, 1826, Virginia Graham Fair married William K Vanderbilt during a grand Roman Catholic ceremony in the conservatory at the elegant mansion owned by the bride's sister, Theresa Fair Oelrichs, located at No 1 E 57th St (5th Ave) in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by architect Robert Mook, the pile, known as Marble Row, was originally erected in 1869 as a series of French inspired residences for Mary Mason Jones (aunt of novelist Edith Wharton). The conservatory itself was an addition designed by noted architect, Stanford White. The whole row of mansions were demolished by about 1930. - AsNotedIn
