Reverse Martini

A Reverse Martini, is 2 oz of dry vermouth and 1 oz of gin served over ice.

Paul Child, Julia Child's husband, made a drink called Ivan's aperitif or what Julia called an Upside-Down Martini. Paul poured both sweet and dry vermouth (preferably, Noilly Pratt) into a red wine glass full of ice, floated gin on top and garnished it with a twist of orange or lemon. Mr Child was also known for serving very fine dry Martinis. - AsNotedIn
