George Blagowidow was a New York publisher, founder of Hippocrene Books. An ethnic Russian born in Poland, Blagowidow survived Nazi occupation, escaped communist Europe and attended university in Belgium. Blagowidow is best known as a publisher, but he was also a novelist: In Search of the Lady Lion Tamer (Harcourt Brace, 27 March 1987), The Last Train from Berlin (Doubleday, July 1977) and Operation Parterre (Hippocrene 6 December 1982). - AsNotedIn
