Automata

Automaton

Automaton are self-operating mechanical dolls or figures. Typically created with very complicated clockwork mechanisms and are designed to do a particular task, like dance, play a game or write a poem. One of the most famous automaton was Jacques de Vaucanson's Digesting Duck built in 1739, but lost in a fire in 1879. The duck appeared to eat feed, digest its food and to then proceed to defecate. - AsNotedIn
