1914/00/00 John D Rockefeller Benefactor YMCA Building is built in the Italianate Architectural style with the assistance of a grant from John D Rockefeller. Today it houses the Counseling Center and the MSU Post Office, and has been designated a Mississippi Landmark.
1965/00/00 Johnny Cash Suspect After a concert in the Animal Husbandry building at Mississippi State, Johnny Cash heads to a fraternity house, parties in the Longmeadow subdivision and gets a ride to his room at the University Motel. June Carter is staying in another room.
1965/05/11 Johnny Cash Suspect Johnny Cash leaves his motel for cigarettes. Caught picking flowers from the Copeland's garden, cash is arrested and charged with public drunkenness. - Walk the Cash trail with stops at the Copeland property, the jail cell and Room 22 at the motel. Johnny Cash at San Quentin
1965/05/11 Cash kicks his jail cell, breaking a toe. He gives his shoes to fellow inmate, Smokey Evans, saying: "Here's a souvenir. I'm Johnny Cash." Released after six hours, Johnny Cash packs up, eats breakfast and leaves town. Smokey died in a fight in 2005.
