Marion, a very small city and the county seat of Perry County in southeastern Alabama, is notable for its connection to a number of colleges. Judson College operated in Marion from 1838 to 2021. Samford University, now in Birmingham, was established as Howard College at the current site of the Marion Military Institute. Lincoln Normal School of Marion relocated to Montgomery where it became Alabama State University. Institute Founded in 1842, the Marion Military Institute is located in Marion. - AsNotedIn
