Crab Orchard is an American national wildlife refuge located in Williamson, Jackson and Union counties in southern Illinois. The preserve is a resting areas for birds migratory along the Mississippi Flyway including wintering Canada Geese and migrating bald eagles. The annual International Migratory Bird Day celebration which takes place each May.

Wolf Creek Causeway is a popular spot for fishing and wildlife observation. A boat launch and covered dock are provided for boating while piers allow bank fishing for crappie and other species.

The Rocky Bluff Trail is a popular 2.2 mile loop trail that leads through a moderate terrain of ridges, valleys and bluffs. The trail is notable in springtime when wildflowers bloom and water flows over an intermittent fall.

The Refuge headquarters building is located about five miles west of Marion, Illinois, and about five miles south of Herrin, Illinois, of State Route 148 into Pigeon Creek Road. - AsNotedIn
