1801/00/00 Charles Carroll III begins building Homewood of his own design. He was mostly finished by 1808.
1830/09/30 John Lee Carroll Born John Lee Carroll, great-grandson of Charles Carroll of Carrollton, is born at home. John Lee Carroll would become Governor of Maryland.
1839/00/00 Richard Upjohn Architect In 1839, Carroll IV sells Homewood to Samuel Wyman who lived there until 1865. Wyman's son William hired Richard Upjohn to build an Italianate mansion named "Homewood Villa." Demolished by Johns Hopkins University in 1954, only the gatehouse remains.
1897/09/30 Daniel Coit Gilman Work Gilman School, a prestigious preparatory academy known originally as The Country School for Boys, is established by Anne Galbraith Carey, with assistance from Daniel Coit Gilman.
1905/06/11 Henry James Visitor Late in one of the days of his Baltimore visit, James stops by the Carroll House, which is not clearly identified, but is likely to be Homewood, the mansion on the grounds of the Johns Hopkins University on N Charles St.
