The current Squirrel Meadows Guard Station was built in 1934, but the site has been used for administrative purposes since 1907. It's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Only one other cabin in Wyoming was constructed with the same building plan. The 2-room cabin is made of lodgepole pine and features a galvanized roof, which was installed over the original wood shingles at a later date.

Guests can drive to the cabin in warmer weather. The last 10 miles are gravel roads which can only be accessed by skis, snowshoes or snowmobiles from approximately December through mid-May. The cabin provides many creature comforts for an enjoyable stay, but guests will have to bring some of their own gear and supplies. - NPS
