J Quisenberry House

  • Address: Quisenberry Rd
  • Travel Genus: Sight
  • Sight Category: Building

Situated on a knoll overlooking the old Boonesborough Road and oriented to its private lane, the J Quisenberry House was owned in 1877 by J Quisenberry. Robert Clark, a prominent early pioneer is buried here and may well have built this early 19th century brick residence. The house, whose double pile, central passage plan form is unique to early Kentucky, has stylistic illusions to several periods, but the weight and severity of the detailing suggest a Greek Revival period of construction. - NRHP, 17 February 1977
