1876/11/11 George W Eichholtz Architect George M Eichholtz and John J Valdenaire buy 705 Main Street and begin building one of the finest and most complete wood mills of its kind. The two-story brick main building (lost) includes a dry kiln and boiler room containing two 40-horse boilers.
1877/01/01 George W Eichholtz Work J J Valdenaire and George M Eichholtz are joined by equal partner, Louis Petry, and establish North Manchester Planing and Band Saw Mill. The four city block lumber yard (lost) on the north side of Main Street has two sheds.
1888/01/12 Pullman Palace Car Company Customer The North Manchester Saw and Planing Mill Co (lost) earns a contract of a million feet of oak to be furnished to the Pullman Car Co. The lumber will be used in building 1,900 freight cars for the Chicago and North Western Railroad.
1894/00/00 George W Eichholtz Work The North Manchester Planing Mill enters receivership where it is sold to J A Browne. Eichholtz settles in Indianapolis, Petry moves to Warsaw and Valdinaire heads to Benton Harbor where they each continue in the lumber business.
1898/00/00 The Electric Light Company for North Manchester moves to the Manchester Planing Mill Co (lost) where the waste from the woodworking mill is burned in boilers that generate electricity.
1900/00/00 706 W Grant Street, 708 W Grant Street and 202 N High Street are built.
