1823/00/00 Robert Bolling IV Home Greek Revival Centre Hill is built in 1823 for Robert Bolling, a member of a prominent and influential Petersburg family. Mr Bolling lived here until 1836.
1865/04/07 Abraham Lincoln Union Commander in Chief President Abraham Lincoln meets with General G L Hartsuff. District Commander of the Northern forces, Hartsuff was using Centre Hill as his headquarters. Siege of Petersburg
1909/05/19 William Howard Taft Guest President William Taft is a guest at Centre Hill. He is in Petersburg to dedicate a monument to the Pennsylvanians and General Hartranft, who fought at the Siege of Petersburg.
1937/00/00 Edgar S Bowling buys the house and donates it to the United States to be used as a museum. It was formally opened in 1950. In 1952, Centre Hill was deeded to the Petersburg Battlefield Museum Corporation.
