The Sayles Building is an excellent example of Greek revival architecture. The original entrance on Summer St is said to be an exact replica of the Erechtheion' an ancient Greek temple on the Acropolis in Athens' Greece. The library was entered through a Greek portico formed by four Ionic columns. Decorative panels on the front of the building show scenes from ancient civilizations while the interior boast decorative ceilings, an impressive crystal chandelier and a glass-floored North balcony. - AsNotedIn
