1837/00/00 Daniel Putnam Architect Daniel Putnam builds the Locust Creek House, a T-plan, 2.5 story, mostly clapboarded house at the junction of the roads from Bethel to Stockbridge (west) and Woodstock (south).
1840/00/00 Soon after construction, Daniel Putnam's son, Sumner, opens the tavern. Sumner's proprietorship last only two or three years and then Daniel and another son, Julius, will take over the venture.
1860/07/03 Locust Creek Hotel opens the 2nd floor dance hall in the new north wing with a ball. At a price of $2.00, the program offers a full bill and a five-piece band. The 'sprung' dance floor was built by setting the floor joists on natural rubber blocks.
