1759/07/01 The French garrison abandons Fort St Frederic, blows up the Redoute and Windmill and retreat to Isle aux Noix, an island on the Richelieu River in Quebec.
1759/08/04 General Jeffery Amherst arrives at Fort St Frederic, finding a good portion of the French fort intact. A single chimney from a French dwelling still standing on the eastern shore gave "Chimney Point" its name.
