1801/00/00 John McComb Architect John McComb Jr designs a Federal-style country home on a 32-acre estate in upper Manhattan for Alexander Hamilton, 1801-1802.
1802/00/00 Alexander Hamilton Home The Hamilton family's country home is completed. Alexander names it "The Grange" after his father's ancestral home in Scotland.
1802/00/00 Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton Home The Hamilton family's country home is completed. Alexander names it "The Grange" after his father's ancestral home in Scotland.
1833/11/00 Thomas E Davis Owner Thomas E Davis buys The Grange from Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton for $25,000.
1889/00/00 The Grange is foreclosed and slated for demolition to extend the street grid per the 1811 Commissioners' Plan. St Luke's Episcopal Church acquires the house and moves it a half block E and 2 blocks S to what became 287 Convent Ave.
2006/05/09 The Grange is closed for extensive architectural investigations as part of a plan to move it to St Nicholas Park. The new setting will permit restoration of features lost in the 1889 move while staying within Hamilton's original 32-acre estate.
2011/09/17 The Grange opens to the public during a ceremony with Hamilton descendants and tours of the restored interiors. A visitor's center is located in the newly constructed ground floor, where the kitchen, laundry and servants' rooms would have been.
