1857/00/00 Andrew Jackson Cheney Home A J Cheney builds a house on a gently-sloping meadow at Tennessee Wagon Road and Sandtown Road. The Sandtown, located parallel at c 100 ft south of the house, was a Cherokee trail that leads to the Sandtown village on the banks of the Chattahoochee.
1864/06/20 Gen John Schofield Major General Gen J Schofield, commanding the Army of the Ohio, right wing of General W T Sherman's forces on the Kennesaw front, makes his headquarters in the Cheney House. From here, Schofield will direct the flanking march of the 23rd Artillery Co on Sandtown Road.
1864/06/21 Jacob Dolson Cox Union Commander Jacob D Cox's 3rd Division camps at Cheney House. Battle of Kolb's Farm
1864/06/23 William T Sherman Union General Union General Sherman inspects the right wing of the Kennesaw Line at the Cheney estate on June 23rd and 25th.
1865/07/26 Lucy Swift Cheney Died Lucy Swift Cheney, wife of Andrew Jackson Cheney, passes away. Mrs Cheney is buried at the Cheney Family Cemetery, near a daughter, Fannie, who had died in 1861.
