1857/00/00 The Swift-Kyle House is built for Columbus physician, Dr Samuel A Billings, as a wedding gift for his bride, the widow of Gen Daniel MacDougald.
1862/00/00 Simon and Frank Rothschild, two brothers from Eufaula, Alabana, buy the Billings house and live here with their families until the Union forces towards the end of the Civil War confiscate the residence for use as their headquarters.
1864/00/00 George P Swift Home Col George Parker Swift from Thomaston, Georgia, acquires the Rothschild house for $50,000 Confederate dollars and a quantity of osnaburg (a heavy duck material) manufactured in his cotton mill.
