1733/02/01 James Edward Oglethorpe Founder Gen James Oglethorpe establishes the Colony of Georgia, named for King George II of England, and lays out its first city, Savannah.
1825/03/21 Marquis de Lafayette Guest of Honor Lafayette lays the foundation stone for the Nathanael Greene Monument on Johnson Square. Then proceeds to Chippewa Square to lay the cornerstone for the Count Casimir Pulaski Monument. Lafayette's Triumphal Tour of America
1830/02/07 William Strickland Architect Due to lack of funds, the current Nathanael Greene Obelisk is erected in Johnson Square to honor both Greene and Polish Count, General Casimir Pulaski.
1840/00/00 Charles B Cluskey Engineer, Contractor City Council hires Charles B Cluskey to design and build retaining walls all along the bluff above Factors Walk and River Street to prevent erosion.
1840/05/00 Charles B Cluskey Engineer, Contractor City Council authorizes Cluskey to incorporate four brick stores, or vaults, into the Factors retaining wall. Cluskey Embankment Stores are built adjacent to City Hall along the Drayton St Ramp.
1842/09/00 Cluskey surrenders the Factors Walk retaining wall project to William S Walker, of James E Walker and Brothers. Walker completed the job and the City made the final payment in December 1842.
1853/00/00 Robert E Launitz Sculptor Monument and statue honoring Casimir Pulaski is erected on Monterey Sq, rather than on Chippewa Sq. Designer Robert Launitz felt that Chippewa Sq was not a suitable backdrop to his work.
1902/00/00 Maj Gen Nathanael Greene In Memoriam Nathanael Greene's remains are moved to the Nathanael Greene Monument on Johnson Square in Savannah, Georgia.
