1921/05/17 Mary Margaret Cunningham Benefactor Mrs Mary Cunningham, widow of Judge J O Cunningham, for a generation one of Urbana's distinguished residents, dies at the family residence, 1102 W Green street, at 3:15 this morning. Mrs Cunningham leaves a $10,000 bequest for a statue of Abe Lincoln.
1927/07/03 Lorado Taft Sculptor Lorado Taft dedicates his own sculpture, Lincoln the Lawyer. The bronze statue was funded by a $10,000 bequest from Mrs Joseph Oscar Cunningham who, with her husband, had been friends of Lincoln since his time as a circuit lawyer.
1927/12/04 "Lincoln the Lawyer" sculpture is moved to the eastern entrance of Carle Park on December 4, 1927. The statue will be moved about 20 feet north to its present site in December 1955.
