1826/00/00 A 74-foot high, octagonal tower is built of Connecticut River blue split stone at Fire Island Inlet. (demolished, brick and stone foundation remains). Due to longshore drift, the inlet is now about 6 miles to the west.
1858/11/01 James Chatham Duane Architect Current 168 feet tall brick tower is lit. Originally painted a creamy yellow color, the tower was painted in black and white bands in August 1891.
