Constitution Obelisk
Constructed in 1813 the Obelisk is twenty-five feet in height. The Obelisk was built from local coquina recycled from other projects. It was finished with a lime mortar for weatherproofing and featured classical detailing, including a molded capital and a perilla, a pear shaped ornament at the top of obelisk. Its tapered features and proportions were the work of a skilled designer and builder, familiar with classical architecture. Other than the removal of an original tablet and its replacement with a replica and the renewal of stucco finishes, the integrity of the Obelisk is excellent. - NRHP, 10 February 2012
