Gaping Gill, or Gaping Ghyll, is a 650 foot deep (198 m) natural cave or pothole on the southern slope of Ingleborough Mountain in Yorkshire Dales National Park in northwest England. Gaping Gill, an entrance to one of the largest underground systems in Britain, can be reached by walking but can only be entered twice a year when the Bradford and Craven pothole clubs install a winch over the entrance. The decent is free of charge, but you'll pay a fee to be pull back up. To reach the opening, hike north from Clapham, past Ingleborough Cave to Ingleborough. - AsNotedIn
