1940/08/00 El Indio is established at the corner of India and Grape as a Tortilla Factory in 1940, by Ralph Pesqueira Sr. He makes fresh corn tortillas by hand.
1941/00/00 During WWII, customers from Consolidated, (Convair) and other nearby factories soon began asking for ready to eat lunch items. Ralph Sr responded by making the "Taquito", a word he coined meaning "Little Taco".
1947/00/00 Ralph Sr moves El Indio to its current location in 1947. In this small 25-by-75 foot location he sold many of the same Sonora style Mexican dishes they sell today.
1991/01/07 El Indio caters the first inauguration of former Mayor of San Diego Pete Wilson as Governor of California.
