The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy originated as a radio series on BBC Radio 4 in the United Kingdom. In 1979, the show was nominated for a Hugo, Hugos are awards of excellence presented annually by the members of the World Science Fiction Convention and is probably the highest award for science fiction. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio show lost in the Best Dramatic Presentation category to a feature film, Superman, the Movie. Hitchhiker's Guide or, HHGG, exploded like a super nova into a series of novels (HHGG was the 1st of six), a collection of comic books, a TV series, a computer game and numerous stage presentations.
