It's like writing history with lightning. Woodrow Wilson
The Birth of a Nation, a 1915 silent movie by director D W Griffith, is the prototype of the modern feature film. Great propaganda, The Birth of a Nation mixes accurate portrayals of real events, like the Battle of Petersburg and the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, with blatant lies, like how free blacks harshly dominated the southern states after the Civil War. The Birth of a Nation is discriminatory, during the first month of release it was titled, The Clansman, but it is great cinema nonetheless. The movie premiered at Clune's Auditorium, 427 W 5th St in Los Angeles, California. The auditorium was demolished in 1985 and was used as a parking lot until c 2018. - AsNotedIn
