Currywurst is a German street food that was created in Berlin about 1949 by Herta Heuwer, near the corner of Kant and Kaiser Friedrich Streets. Currywurst is boiled, then fried, pork sausage (Knackwurst) covered with curry ketchup (ketchup or tomato paste mixed with curry powder). Currywurst are typically served with French fries.
