Marzipan

Marzipan is a traditional European confection made with ground almonds, sugar and egg whites. The clay like, soft, chewy dough is typically colored with food dye and sculpted into shapes like a carrot to be used as a decorative touch on a carrot cake. Marzipan can be eaten out of hand, dipped in chocolate or used as a filling. Almond paste is made from have the same ingredients but Marzipan has twice the sugar. - AsNotedIn
