Dear Prudence is me. Written in India. A song about Mia Farrow's sister, who seemed to go slightly barmy, meditating too long, and couldn't come out of the little hut that we were livin' in. They selected me and George to try and bring her out because she would trust us. If she'd been in the West, they would have put her away. We got her out of the house. She'd been locked in for three weeks and wouldn't come out, trying to reach God quicker than anybody else. That was the competition in Maharishi's camp: who was going to get cosmic first. What I didn't know was I was already cosmic. John Lennon
Dear Prudence is a John Lennon - Paul McCartney song originally recorded August 28-30, 1968 by the Beatles. The song was released on The Beatles, known as the White Album. A cover version by the English rock band Siouxsie and the Banshees became their biggest hit.
In February 1968, the Beatles spent over a week in Rishikesh, India, studying meditation with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Actress Mia Farrow and her then 20-year-old sister, Prudence, were also there. Prudence was spending so much time meditating that she would not leave her lodging. Ringo Starr said that he had seen her twice in the two weeks he was there. John Lennon wrote Dear Prudence to coax Ms Farrow to come out to play. - AsNotedIn
