Mid-Atlantic Ridge
Mid-Atlantic Ridge is a 10,000 mile (16,000 km) long, mountain system running under the center of the Atlantic Ocean from the Arctic Ocean to the Southern Ocean. The mountains in this sub-ocean mountain range can be up to 1,000 miles (1600 km) wide and rise above sea level to create such islands and archipelagos as the Ascension Island (UK), Azores (Portugal), Bouvet Island (Norway), Gough Island (UK), Iceland, Jan Mayen (Norway), St Helena (UK), Tristan da Cunha (UK) and St Paul's rock (Brazil). - AsNotedIn
