1812/00/00 Frederick Graff Architect Fairmount Water Works, the first steam powered waterworks in the US is built between 1812 and 1815 on the east bank of the Schuylkill River. Designed Frederick Graff, it operated until 24 October 1822.
1822/00/00 Fairmount Dam, built to channel water into the Waterworks, creates Schuylkill Pond, a long lake that covers the Falls of Schuylkill. Ideal for ice skating and, when not frozen, it became one of the finest areas in the US for the new sport of rowing.
1842/00/00 Charles Dickens Visitor Charles Dickens visits the Fairmount Water Works American Notes Charles Dickens' 1842 Tour of America
1869/00/00 Herman Schwartzmann Engineer Herman Schwartzmann becomes engineer for the Fairmount Park Commission, remains until 1876
1928/00/00 The current Fairmount Dam is built.
