From 1902 to 1917, this narrow, three-story brick rowhouse was the home of Samuel Gompers, who from 1886 until his death in 1924 served a president the American Federation of Labor, an organization he had helped found. As president, Gompers directed all of his energies toward a realization of three goals for American workers: more wages, shorter hours, and better working conditions. - NPS
