1782/09/12 Maj William Montgomery Jr Life William Montgomery arrives in Sumner County. As a surveyor in Middle Tennessee, he took much of his pay in land and enlarged his original 640 acre grant to over 6,000 acres reaching from Tyree Springs to Saint Johns Church, north of Hendersonville.
1804/02/20 Robert Taylor (cabinetmaker) Architect Located west of Drake's Creek and New Hope Rd, Old Brick is built for William Montgomery. The contract between Montgomery and Robert Taylor deeds 200 acres of land to Taylor which was paid in part by his labor on Montgomery's home.
1824/00/00 Taylor-Montgomery House - Long Hollow Pike - 1813-1824 - Two-story Pennsylvania vernacular style house built of coursed limestone the 2-story wing is a recent addition built over a frame addition added in 1897 to replace the original detached kitchen.
1828/00/00 Robert Taylor (cabinetmaker) Architect Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church is built. Robert Taylor works on the new building to replace the former log meeting house. William Montgomery deeded the land for the church and designated the church to be built of stone or brick.
1855/00/00 Daniel Montgomery, who engaged in farming and operated a grist mill, a sawmill and a whiskey distillery, dies on Shackle Island. He is buried in Beech Cemetery. Dr Joshua Franklin was known to ordered a $1 worth of whiskey so he can make medicine.
1883/09/15 Maj William Montgomery Jr Died Maj William Montgomery Jr dies on Shackle Island, Sumner County, Tennessee. He is buried in Beech cemetery, 3216 Long Hollow Pike, Hendersonville, Sumner County, Tennessee.
