1854/00/00 Christoph C Stremme Architect Draftsman for the General Land Office, Christoph Stremme, designs a new Land Office Building in the Rundbogenstil architectural style.
1856/00/00 Baker,William and Nichols,Q. Architect The Texas Sixth Legislature appropriates $40,000 for the construction of a new Land Office. The contract is soon awarded to William Baker and Q Nichols for $39,000.
1857/06/00 In mid-1857, construction begins on Land Office Building on the southeast corner of the Capitol grounds in Austin with brick and wood hauled from Bastrop and stone from Boulton's Quarry.
1887/01/00 William Sydney Porter Work William Porter obtains a position as a clerk in the Land Office. He will be employed here until January 1891.
1917/00/00 The General Land Office moves to a larger building across the street.
1989/04/00 The Texas legislature approves $4.5 million for renovation of the Old Land Office Building to an 1890s era style.
