The Blake House House is the finest example of its type in the city of Bangor and possibly the State of Maine. It was designed by Calvin Ryder who executed many fine buildings in Bangor and Belfast in the middle and late 19th century. The Blake Mansion was a showplace when it was built in 1858 and remains today with minor alterations. - NRHP, 31 October 1972
