1865/00/00 John Giles (architect) Architect Designed by John Giles to be the largest and most modern hotel in London, the Langham is built between 1863 and 1865 at a cost of 300,000 pounds, about 28,894,631 in 2019.
1865/06/10 Edward VII of England Dignitary The Prince of Wales leads the opening ceremony of Langham Hotel. The deluxe hostelry boast a hundred water closets, thirty-six bathrooms and the first hydraulic lifts in England.
1867/06/24 Sassoon David Sassoon Died In poor health, Sassoon David Sassoon dies at the Langham Hotel in London. He is buried at Sephardi New Cemetery, Mile End, England.
1940/12/00 Aerial bombing destroys the Langham's north-east corner and, with consequent flooding, the hotel closes.
1941/00/00 The BBC acquires the Langham Hotel, they will use it as offices and studios until 1986.
