1904/07/00 Carnegie Corporation Benefactor The city of Phoenix accepts Carnegie's $25,000 offer and searches for a site for a new library. David Neahr will donate two blocks on W Washington between 10th Ave and 12th Avenue.
1905/03/00 William Reeves Revision Architect In the spring, the city approves the design for a new library building as created by W R Norton and amended by W H Reeves.
1906/04/00 Millard and Creighton Supervising Architect The final plans for the Phoenix Carnegie Library and Library Park are approved by the city with Millard and Creighton as architects.
1908/02/14 William R Norton Architect Phoenix Carnegie Library in Library Park opens to the public.
1925/00/00 Until the 1920s, books returned by the public are "fumigated", to guard against disease, for twelve hours in a zinc closet before being placed back into circulation. The zinc-lined closet which was kept in one of the offices and has since been removed.
1952/00/00 Phoenix's new main library is completed and the large, solid oak circulation desk is removed from the foyer of the Phoenix Carnegie Library. The Carnegie building will become an adult recreation center.
