1766/00/00 Ephraim Doolittle Home Doolittle and some of the men in his company, settle on along the Prickly Ash BrooK. The fertile land of hills and valleys offers flat areas suitable for farming. Living communally in a log cabin, they clear the land and erect a saw mill (lost).
1788/00/00 Col Doolittle acquires 500 acres, which is the largest land holdings in Shoreham. The land includes an arm of the Prickly Ash Brook and part of the Crown Point Road, which is an important road of transport across the state.
1788/00/00 A grist mill is erected on Prickly Ash Brook about 30 yards downstream from the original saw mill. In the 1890's another saw mill will be erected on the foundations of the original saw mill. The limestone foundations of both mills remain.
1800/00/00 Job Lane Howe Architect A large, Federal style, Georgian plan, brick house is erected for Col Doolittle and his family. It is believed that this house was built by Job Lane Howe, an active housewright in the area.
1807/02/08 Ephraim Doolittle Died Ephraim Doolittle dies in Shoreham, Vermont. Mr Doolittle is buried at his Farm, north of the main house. In 1910 the original gravestones of Col Doolittle and his wife were moved to Shoreham's town center. Modern gravestone mark the original graves.
