1717/04/22 The "Wayside" plot, originally about 100 acres, is conveyed to Edmund Tomkins by Caleb Heathcote.

1761/00/00 James Varian Home James Varian, a staunch patriot, moves his family out of New York City after it was captured by the British to neutral ground.

1853/00/00 Wealthy entrepreneur Charles Butler buys Wayside as part of his vast country estate, Fox Meadow Estate. Upon Charles Butler's death, the land will pass to his daughter, Emily.

1919/00/00 Emily Butler deeds Wayside to The Village of Scarsdale for an educational use and to provide a center for civic welfare, club rooms or lyceum for the people of Scarsdale. After extensive renovations, the Scarsdale Women's Club opens their clubhouse.
1924/00/00 Miss Emily O Butler, daughter of Charles Butler, sells the remains of the Fox Meadow Estate (360 acres) to developers.
1953/00/00 After a year and a half of vacancy, the Junior League of Scarsdale becomes new custodians of Wayside Cottage. The League, with the help of dedicated members and local volunteers, restores the cottage, returning it to its Colonial past.
