Susana Machado Residence is a 10,000-square-foot, 35 room mansion. When first built, it included a billiard room, drawing room, gymnasium, library, wine room and, of course, servants quarters. Susana Machado was married to Jean Bernard, a wealthy Swiss-French businessman and was the mother of 11 children. She lived in her Westlake home until she died in 1907 and the residence remained in the Bernard family until 1962. The Bernard House is currently owned by the Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law, Inc and used by Casa Libre-Freedom House. - AsNotedIn
