1887/06/24 Peter Mayrhofer leases a parcel of land from Barney Kampling, Co-owner of the Central Livery Stable, for "the erection of a substantial three story building of brick or brick veneer on said premises." The 20 year term is to start on 1 September 1887.
1887/10/20 Comstock and Trotsche Architect The Grand Hotel opens at 332, 328 and 334 F Street. Owner, Peter Mayrhofer, leases the ground floor and basement to Matheny Flower and Co (general merchandise) on the 20th.
1888/00/00 Wyatt Earp Life Sometime between 1885 and 1887, Wyatt Earp settles in San Diego. At one he and his common-law wife, Josephine, will live at The Grand Horton, now known at the Horton Grand Hotel.
1888/11/00 An announcement for the opening of the "Original Louvre" restaurant at The Grand Hotel, with Peter Mayrhofer as Proprietor, appears in the San Diego Union. The eatery boast of a beer garden and concert hall.
1891/00/00 Barney Kampling acquires owner of the Grand-Horton.
1893/00/00 Mrs Mary Bidwell becomes proprietor of the Grand-Horton Hotel. She lives here with her daughter Maggie.
1894/00/00 Newspaper reporter, William H Porterfield, son of Mary Bidwell, takes rooms at Grand-Horton Hotel.
1894/00/00 Lotte Buck Porterfield, wife of William H Porterfield, lives at Grand-Horton Hotel.
1979/00/00 The Horton Grand is dismantled and stored in various warehouses, interior furnishings and fixtures are sold.
1986/05/00 Grand Horton Hotel and the Brooklyn-Kahle Saddlery Hotel are reconstructed, side-by-side, on Island Ave and open, with a new interior as the Grand-Horton Hotel
