The Cape Girardeau Commercial Historic District (Boundary Increase II) is comprised of three party wall brick commercial buildings that vary in height between one and two stories. The buildings were constructed ca. 1870 and ca. 1896.... The three brick buildings now under a single address, 127 North Water Street, were built to house the P H Dempsey wholesale and retail grocery in addition to his commission and forwarding business....
