Beaumont Riding School

  • Also Known As: South Cavalry (Beaumont) Barracks
  • Also Known As: Alexandra Way Riding School

  • Address: Auchinleck Way
  • Type: Equestrian Riding Hall

In 1854, the British Army established a military base at Aldershot. Originally part of the South Cavalry Barracks, the Beaumont Riding School was built as one of three identical cavalry barracks at the Wellington Lines group that was built between 1856 and 1859. The entrance gateway, guardrooms and the riding school are the last surviving structures the brick cavalry barracks at Aldershot. Considered the finest example of a cavalry riding school in England and an exceptional example of the high architectural standards achieved by the Royal Engineers. It stands out in a national context as one of the most magnificent equestrian buildings and the finest example of riding school architecture after that at Bolsover Castle
