Fragments of Old Whitehall Palace are a group of architectural remains on the eastside of the MoD Main Building on Horse Guards Avenue in the Victoria Embankment Gardens' Whitehall Extension in London, England. The remnants include a reconstructed base of a corner of the river wall at Henry VIII's Whitehall Palace. In front of this is the north end of Queen Mary's terrace and river steps designed by Sir Christopher Wren. The curved flight of steps are flanked by ashlar retaining walls of the terrace. At the top of the steps are bases of 4 columns and the doorway sill of a 17th century river gate. Henry VIII's Wine Cellar survives under the Ministry of Defense's Main Building. - AsNotedIn
