Archway Beneath Southern End Of London Bridge is a surviving section (wall and abutments to north of east side are obscured) of Sir John Rennie's 1831 London Bridge. The elliptical arch with struck voussoirs, channelled abutments and dentil cornice was constructed of Haytor granite from Swelltor Quarry in Dartmoor, Devon. The rest of the London Bridge is now in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. - AsNotedIn

1176/00/00 Henry II of England Sovereign King Henry II orders a stone bridge (lost) to replace a timber bridge on the Thames river. The new structure will have a chapel (lost) dedicated to Thomas Becket. Houses are to be built on the bridge to pay for maintenance.
