1148/00/00 As Papal legate, St Malachy introduces the Arrousian form of Augustinian rule to the Abbey of the Blessed Virgin between 1140 and 1148.
1368/00/00 Augustinian Architect The Abbey of the Blessed Virgin is burned at least three times between 1108 and 1368. The Yellow Steeple and the rest of the abbey were probably rebuilt after the 1368 attack.
1368/00/00 Nangle or Talbot's Castle, a nearby manor house, may have been built as the Abbey of the Blessed Virgin's refectory. The "castle" is now a private residence.
1400/00/00 During the fourth rebuilding, a statue of the Blessed Virgin is erected. According to medieval Irish chronicles, the Madonna is associated with many healing miracles around the 15th century.
1542/05/15 Agents of Henry VIII force Geoffry Dardice, St Mary's last abbot, to sign his own expulsion. The wealth of the abbey, recorded as 1,861 pounds 15s 2d. (9 million pounds in 2008) is seized by the crown. Sir Anthony St Leger receives the abbey's lands.
1838/00/00 The Madonna, and other items selected during the religious reforms and the dissolution of the monasteries under Henry VIII as idols, is removed and likely burned.
