1883/00/00 The Barge Office (lost) is built in the southeast corner of Battery Park as customs and immigration offices. It will also hold offices for the Marine Hospital Service, the predecessor of the US Public Health Service.
1890/04/19 Federal Government assumes control of the examining of immigrants and begins operating the Barge Office (lost), located in the southeast corner of Battery Park, as an immigrant receiving station.
1891/03/16 Adolph Zukor Life Adolph Zukor, an orphan, immigrates to America using the name Adolf Zuckery. Sailing from Hamburg on the SS RUGIA on March 1, he arrives in New York City on 16 March 1891.
1897/06/00 After a disgruntled night watchman sets fire to the Ellis Island facility, immigrant possessing operations are relocated back to the Barge Office in Battery Park (lost).
1900/12/17 The new Ellis Island Immigration Depot opens.
1911/00/00 The Barge Office is demolished.
1939/06/10 Fiorello H La Guardia Dignitary New York City's Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia and New York Governor Herbert Lehman greet King George VI and Queen Elizabeth at The Battery. King George VI and Queen Elizabeth State Visit of Canada
