Ribs or, ribcage, are a series of slender curved bones that extend out from the spine to the sternum creating a cavity for an animals' organs. Ribs can be divided into two main sections: the portion that connects to the backbones and the rest that join or grow toward the sternum. In pigs or pork, loin-back ribs, or baby-back ribs, are the half that connect to the spine while spareribs are the portion with the breastbone attached. St Louis Style Ribs are spareribs where the breastbone piece has been removed. In steer or beef, the large cut that connects to the backbone is called prime rib while the smaller cage side are called short ribs. The rib meat in lambs is called Rack of lamb. - AsNotedIn
