A yacht is sailing or motor designed for leisure. Derived from the Dutch word jacht "hunt", the yacht developed as a light fast sailing vessel used by the Dutch navy in the shallow waters of the Low Countries. After a yacht carried Charles II of England to England from the Netherlands for his restoration in 1660, the sailing craft rose to prominence.
